Photo Retouching

In some cases, the assets given by the client aren’t nearly enough to work with. This is where a little imagination and my training in digital painting pays off.

The client wanted to see what this stock photo look like at night.

A Dog ate a friends photo…

Client: Vicon Ecosystems

Coral Reef Before
Problem: “We have a 3d model of an artificial Coral reef design, however we haven’t been able to show what it would look like once the reef grows on top of our product.”
Coral Reef After
Solution: I photoshopped in what the coral might look like once its grown onto the product. In addition to this I added in the ecosystem, a scuba diver for scale, and modified the environment to add focal points and illuminate the otherwise dull image.

Client: Dial 800

Dial 800
Problem: The client wants a new banner with one of their logos as the focal point.
Solution: With a photo reference of how a lightbulb should shine, I did all the things and made the logo their light.

Client: United Data Technologies

Humanize the cloud before
Problem: The client wants a new main banner with their employees as the subject. They don’t want to reschedule a photoshoot.
Humanize the cloud before
Solution: I superimposed the existing photos onto random web models of roughly the same body type. The client was ecstatic, including the newfound bodybuilder on the far right.

Client: Youngevity

youngevity
Problem: We want to animate the girl over the background, but it’s only one image
Solution: I cut out the girl and duplicated the background, ensuring that enough variation was in the wheat to make it look natural.

Client: Bayless Pediatrics

Problem: The client wants a full width banner, but provided a stock photo with the dimensions too short.
Solution: I pulled up various photos of that location in Arizona to make sure that no excessive buildings were copied in a blatant attempt at cloning in Photoshop. I then painted over discrepancies and covered the rest with a foreground cliff element for speed sake.

Client: Lens of Perception Photography

Problem: A pedestrian walked into the shot, and it wasn’t noticed until a few days later when the location was no longer available.

Solution: I knew the shot was taken in Vegas, but had no clue as to what street it was on. My pastime of reading detective novels paid off as I Googled “Zarkana” which appears in the background. From there I was able to find the hotel, then use Google Maps to find out what should be in the background. The new background was then doctored in appropriately.

Client: Sprig Electric

Problem: One of the Partners offended the wrong person… Truth be told, I didn’t ask but they wanted him gone immediately. Rather than retaking company shots, I was tasked with removing him from existance.

Solution: I removed him from both photos on a tight time budget
